Reading Resources
-
Reading and writing are essential parts of our classroom learning experiences and there are certain important words that some of our students find challenging. These important words, also known as sight words or high-frequency words, are words that students frequently encounter in their reading and writing activities. While we work with these words during the school day, it is very important that your child practices these words at home with an adult.
In this section of the site, you can find all of our classroom resources for sight word work. Please use the links on the side of the page to access resources for your particular needs.
Students will be expected to read for at least 15 minutes each night. This activity can be completed in numerous ways: the student can read to an adult, a sibling or other relative, to a stuffed animal, etc. Reading each night ensures the mastery of sight words while encouraging their growing reading skills. Please reference the section of our website entitled "My Booklist." This section includes books we have read in class along with my own personal book recommendations.
You can also find more information about our Scholastic Book Club. The link provided on the left side of this page will take you directly to the Scholastic website, where you can view available titles and products, place online orders, or just learn more information about this reading opportunity. Remember, each time you place an order online, our class gets a FREE book for our classroom library!
