Welcome to Computer Science Principles
Computer Science Principles (CSP) is a specialization course in the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Pathway To Engineering course sequence and a second level course in the PLTW Computer Science pathway. Students who have completed Computer Science Essentials or reached their sophomore year can register for CSP. CSP introduces students to computing as a problem solving tool and does not focus on any one programming language. Students will:- Learn to create algorithms to solve problems with computers
- Design simple mobile applications
- Study the Internet and web commerce
- Work with large data sets and visualize data
- Investigate intelligent computing
There is no textook for CSP. We will generally use three sources for class activities, assignments, and communication:- Schoology will be used to distribute course materials, for students to submit assignments, and for student/teacher communication. To use this site, navigate to NYCSD's Schoology LMS and log in with your @northernpolarbears.com email account.
- Microsoft Office Tools will be used throughout the course for class content and collaboration.
- PLTW's courses site contains PLTW specific course content. You must be logged in to the PLTW site to access the protected content. You will be assigned a username and password to access the site at https://my.pltw.org/login
