Degrees and Certifications:

B.A. Speech Communications B.A. Secondary Education Minor in French M. Ed. Teaching and Curriculum

Mrs. Albert

I grew up in Rossville (I call it the suburbs of Wellsville). My childhood family consisted of my father, Robert, my mother, Mary, and my two older sisters, Sheri and Shonna.

I attended Wellsville Elementary, Northern Middle School (now the SLC and Administrative Offices), and Northern High School (now Northern Middle School)

I was a member of Northern High School's Honor Society, the polar bear mascot, a cheerleader, and a participant in indoor guard.

I earned dual undergraduate degrees from York College of Pennsylvania, one being a B.A. in Speech Communications and the other a B.A. in Secondary Education.

My first adult career began with Highmark and progressed to their dental subsidiary, United Concordia. In both positions I was involved with electronic data interchange projects, testing, support, analysis, marketing, and training. This lasted for six years and included opportunities to travel all over the United States. During this time, however, I longed to be in the classroom where I could share my love of words with students. Since nothing became available, I chose to leave United Condordia to pursue a franchise opportunity called Drama Kids. In this position I was both business owner and teacher. Within a year, however, I received a call to interview for an eighth grade English teaching position at Central York School District. I landed the job and then eventually made the move to my alma mater, Northern York County School District.

After accepting my first teaching position, I continued my education and eventually earned a M. Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State.

This year my husband Tim and I will celebrate our silver wedding anniversary (25 years!). We have three children--Cameron (22), Tanner (20), and Olivia (15). We also have a beloved 10-year-old Yorkie Poo named Macy. This past year, my oldest son got married, so I now have a daughter-in-law. Her name is Mikayla, and she happens to be an accomplished violist and former student who was in my homeroom her entire eighth grade year. In addition to talking about my family, I enjoy reading, traveling (we just bought an RV this summer), jamming to my favorite music, watching movies that make me laugh or cry, focusing on nutrition, and spending quality time with my family doing a variety of activities. I love Yahtzee, Quiddler, Ticket to Ride, 9 Square in the Air, volleyball, ping pong, tennis, and croquet. If you want to know if I am competitive, you will have to talk to my husband. :-)
