My Booklist
-
The following is a list of books I recommend reading:
- "Ten Things Every Child With Autism Wishes You Knew" by Ellen Notbohm. -- This book is a great resource for parents AND teachers to understand autism a little better and to get into the mind of a child with autism. **
- "Late, Lost, and Unprepared" by Joyce Cooper-Kahn, Ph.D. & Laurie Dietzel, Ph.D -- This book has a lot of great tools, resources, and ideas for students struggling with organization, time management, impulse control, flexibility, memory, and self-monitoring. **
- "Smart but Scattered Teens" by Richard Guare, PhD, Peg Dawson, EdD, and Colin Guare -- This book has a lot of great tools, resources and ideas for students struggling with impulse control, memory, emotional control, flexibility, sustained attention, planning/prioritizing, organization, time management, and self-monitoring. **
- "How Rude! The Teenager's Guide to Good Manners, Proper Behavior, and Not Grossing People Out" by Alex J. Packer, Ph.D. -- I use this book in class, but in case you would also like to work with your child at home on manners, here you go! **
** indicates that I own the book and would be more than happy to share it with you (as long as you promise to return it to me as soon as you finish reading).
