• My room has 4 simple rules:

    1. Respect each other and this room

This rule is simple; Everybody is entitled to express themselves in my room without fear of judgement or derision from other people.  If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.  This is also a science class; there are many dangerous and/or fragile items within it.  Be aware of what is around you and don't do anything that could potentially harm yourself, someone else, or something.  This is also the reason there is no eating allowed in science class.  I do not want you to accidently ingest something that could harm you.

    1. Remain in your seat until the bell rings

Obviously, if we are doing an activity that involves standing, working at the lab tables, or moving around, you may be out of your seat and I try to get you up and moving as often as possible.  This rule means pay attention and work all the way up until the bell rings.  Don't pack up 5 minutes early and tune out.  We squeeze every single second out of class.

    1. Raise your hand (often)

If you have somthing to say, please raise your hand and wait to be called on before talking.  I encourage a lot of participation and contributions during class but it only works if we do it in an orderly fashion.  Please raise your hand often!

    1. Don't touch others or their things

This one seems very simple but it is the rule I have to repeat over and over again every year.  Keep yourself within your own bubble and ask if you want to use something that belongs to somebody else.  This includes me and my things.  This is a rule that you should follow everywhere.

I hate writing up infractions or behavior referrals so I will give you as many warnings as I possibly can before resorting to that action.  The more incidents you have during the year, the shorter the number of warnings will be.  I expect you to regulate your behavior by learning from your past mistakes.  My goal is for every student to have a good time in science class while feeling comfortable enough to express their thoughts and questions.  Hopefully you will learn a little bit along the way.
