Web Site Name: Internet 4 Classrooms
Web Site Address: http://www.internet4classrooms.com/character_ed.htm
Description: Internet 4 Teachers provides a wide range of resources to use with students. I selected the PreK -12 link and the character education resources. Topics within this category include, anger, problem solving/conflict resolution, bullying/cyberbullying, character, fairness, and social skills. One of the lessons, titled The Art of Compromise focuses on providing a definition for the word compromise and a discussion about compromising. By addressing compromise in a lesson, teacher’s can instruct students on problem solving and the steps to problem solving. This lesson presents scenarios that require a compromise. The scenarios could be used as guided or independent practice. Guidance counselors or classroom teachers could use these scenarios, which are geared more, towards the high school level. These scenarios, which are do not focus on school related issues can be viewed as an example for further teacher made samples. Problem solving and compromise are essentials for all students, not just students with behavioral concerns. Lessons in these topics can be preventative measures to issues that may occur with the classroom or outside of school. Many of the social and compromise issues that high school students encounter are often during social interactions.
