Welcome!

I am Ms.Jennifer Smith - 8th Grade English Teacher  on the White Team here at Northern Middle School.  I have worked in the Northern York County School District for 20 years!

I had the delight and privilege to be born and to grow up overseas on the British Dependent island Territory known as Bermuda, where I became interested in teaching at a young age and it was fostered by my large-family experiences, babysitting opportunities, interest, and encouraging adults.

I attended Cairn University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Education and Gratz College, where I earned my Master of Education.

I am the mother of two amazing daughters - Gillian, a 2011 graduate of Messiah College, who is a Policy Writer for a state organization and Abigail, a 2018 graduate of Messiah College, who works in a college admissions office in Massachusetts . Both of my girls were educated exclusively in the Northern York County School District from K - 12.

I have many interests and only regret that I do not have as many resources to always pursue them as often as I would like: walking, scrapbooking, reading, gardening, traveling, singing, playing board and card games, writing, organizing space, playing hand bells, playing piano, watching movies, to name a few.

I am also a "student of life" in that I find myself curious about and interested in learning a variety of new things. 

I anticipate a great year helping 8th graders to be intellectually prepared, civically engaged, and personally responsible for success this year and to be ready for success in high school English next year, and "... to infinity and beyond"!!
