The Thursday meeting is still set for MARCH 18.

ALERT - AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS FOR TODAY - Wednesday November 11, 2020 - have been canceled. Students have been advised to go home on the bus or by regular dismissal parent pickups.
WE ARE GEARING UP TO START A MODIFIED-VERSION OF BUILDERS CLUB IN 2020 - 2021!! Parent Information Letters and Registration Forms will be given to students the week of Sept 28, 2020.
MASKS MUST BE WORN AT MEETINGS AND STUDENTS WILL REMAIN SOCIALLY-DISTANCED AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SANITIZE THEIR HANDS.
Because the 7th and 8th graders are mostly in the building only 2 days a week for Cohort A or Cohort B, we are going to offer Club meetings on two days a month - MOSTLY the 4th Wednesday for Cohort A students and MOSTLY the 3rd Thursday for Cohort B students. 6th graders can decide which meeting they prefer attending - one per month.
Sometimes, because of holidays or other Middle School activities, the day may be different but all dates for 2020-2021 are posted below: (Please realize that our schedule may change due to new regulations/COVID-related issues, etc.)
6th GRADERS: on your Registration forms , it is IMPORTANT that you select which date each month you plan to attend.
Attendance may be limited - depending on numbers, so having an awareness of group size in advance will determine meeting space.
OCTOBER -15 and 21
NOVEMBER - 11 and 19
DECEMBER - 9 and 17
JANUARY - 21 and 27
FEBRUARY - 18 and 24
MARCH - 18 and 24

MAY - 20 and 26
THERE ARE THREE OTHER IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS:
1. Meetings will end at 3:30 PM.
2. No group snacks will be provided. Students may bring their own snack, if they wish, but there will be no shared food.
3. We were not able to elect student leaders in the Spring. We are considering identifying students at each meeting to take the lead. If 7th or 8th grade members have a desire to participate in a leadership role, please see Ms. Smith for the Application Material. This will include you acquiring a letter of recommendation from an NMS teacher or Aide and a paragraph identifying your desire for leadership.
Friday 3/20 - Persia B. and Hannah B. (need 2 more!)
Saturday 3/21 - NONE! (need 4)
ATTENTION ALL PARENT DRIVERS:
BUILDERS CLUB MEETINGS END AT 4:00 PM. IF YOU COME TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD BEFORE 3:55 PM, PLEASE WAIT IN THE PARKING LOT AREA - NOT IN THE PICK-UP/DROP-OFF AREA IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING.
THERE ARE SOMETIMES 3 CLUB THAT DISMISS BETWEEN 3:15 AND 4:00 AND TOO FREQUENTLY, CARS ARE BLOCKING THE FRONT PICK-UP/DROP-OFF SPACE FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES. THIS PROLONGS THE PICK-UP PROCEDURE FOR THE OTHER CLUBS AND CREATES SAFETY ISSUES.
DO NOT DRIVE DOWN TO THE FRONT PICK-UP AREA UNTIL YOU SEE YOUR CHILD, LOAD QUICKLY AND DRIVE AWAY CAREFULLY AND TIMELY.

HOLIDAY PARTY - We still need EVERYONE to sign up to bring snacks for our Holiday Party on Thursday 12/19 in the NMS Cafeteria. SEE MS. SMITH ASAP - if you have not signed up. Also, at our HOLIDAY PARTY, we will also be doing a "White Elephant" Gift Exchange. We do not expect anyone to buy brand new, costly gifts. This is a fun way to clear out some of the unused/gently-used items you already have at home - that would be desirable to other Middle School students. Make sure it is workable, clean, in great /like-new condition and wrap it up to impress.
We play the version of the exchange where the first person chooses a gift and "keeps" it. The second person may choose to "steal" the first person's gift or to choose an unopened gift and "keeps" whichever he/she chooses. The third person can either "steal"'from Person 1 or "steal" from Person 2 or open a new gift. He/she "keeps" the gift. If Person 2 stole from Person 1 and then Person 3 stole from Person 2, than THAT GIFT is NOW SETTLED. No one may "steal" it from him/her and he/she literally gets to keep the gift. The game continues until everyone has a gift. When a gift is "stolen" from a Person, that Person may choose another gift to open. A gift may only be stolen TWOCE (that is be in the possession of the third "owner") ebfore it becomes "frozen" and no longer able to be stolen. Once the game is finished, students may make any MUTUAL TRADES, but there will be no bullying!!
