Classroom Expectations
In the first few weeks of school and as the year progresses, I will be working with the students to establish a classroom environment that is safe and promotes learning and success for each student. I feel strongly that the classroom belongs not only to me, but to all of the students as well. In this welcoming environment children can feel free to ask questions, express ideas, laugh often, and learn a lot. The classroom rules are very important in creating this environment. The students and I will be following the five rules listed below:
- Follow directions quickly
- Raise your hand to speak or stand
- Listen when others are talking
- Make smart choices
- Respect yourself, respect others, respect your school
These are my classroom rules and they will be taught extensively at the start of the year. Please reinforce these rules at home as well. Positive reinforcement is an extremely powerful tool in helping young children choose appropriate behaviors. I will be looking for students and/or the whole class to be following these rules. Students who are following these rules will be rewarded with moving their clip up and earning Class Dojo points. Students also will have opportunities to earn polar paws to be entered in drawings.
