Sight Words

  •           Below is a list of the sight words that we will learn this year in Kindergarten.  They are important words that your child should learn to recognize without hesitation while reading.  I will start introducing sight words to our "Word Wall" during the third week of school.

You can help out by practicing these words at home!  When reading stories to your child, encourage him or her to pick out sight words that are in the text.  Here are some other fun ways to practice sight words at home:

    • play sight word memory
    • sight word BINGO
    • put sight words on small cars and making a parking lot on a piece of paper with matching words
    • write sight words in sidewalk chalk and have your child hit them with water balloons
    • write sight words in pudding, shaving cream, salt, etc.
    • have a sight word scavenger hunt around the house.
