All students in Northern Elementary School complete benchmark assessments in September, January and May. Eligibility for Title 1 is then determined through multiple criteria including student benchmark assessment scores and the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA2).
When a student is enrolled as a Title 1 student, progress monitoring assessments are conducted on a regular basis through AimswebPlus. This is the assessment tool that the district uses to monitor student growth in reading skills. The assessment tool is valid and reliable and based on 30 years of research.
Parents will receive updated information about their child's growth in assessed reading skills after each benchmark assessment. Parents of Title 1 students will also receive communication about how their child is progressing throughout the year.
