  •                   Currently in class, students are studying the research-based program Correct

                      Students who are enrolled in the Basic English class study the research-based program Corrective Reading. As a result, learning from a scripted program such as Corrective Reading, it is expected that students will improve both decoding and comprehension skills.  Decoding strategies for Corrective Reading include letter and word discrimination, sound and letter combinations, word endings, story reading, literal and inferential comprehension.  Comprehension skills for Corrective Reading focus on more advanced reasoning, handling information, vocabulary, analyzing sentences, and writing skills.

    In addition to the Corrective Reading program, the students also learn from school board approved various literature and vocabulary taught in the regular classroom curriculum classes.
