NYCSD Alternative Education Behavior Levels
Level I (85% of behavior points)
Ä Remain in assigned seat throughout the school day unless given teacher permission.
Ä Turn in cell phone at the beginning of the day, to be returned at the end of the day.
Ä No end of day free time, may read if caught up with work.
Ä May not participate in class activity at the end of the month.
Ä May not participate in community service/off campus trips.
Ä Lunch is brought down to the student in the alternative education room.
⊗ Students earning fewer than 85% of the behavior points will be assigned
an after school detention for the following week.
⊗ Students escorted everywhere in building
Level II (90% of behavior points)
Ä Remain in assigned seat throughout the school day unless given teacher permission.
Ä May use cell phone during homeroom, to be turned in prior to 8:00 am and returned at the end of the day.
Ä May not participate in community service/off campus trips.
Ä May participate in end of day free time if work is completed, which means may read
Ä May participate in class activity at the end of the month.
Ä Student is escorted to lunch and throughout the building.
Level III (95% of behavior points)
Ä Remain in assigned seat throughout the school day unless given teacher permission.
Ä Cell phone use same as level 2
Ä May participate in end of day free time if work is completed.
Ä May participate in community service/off campus trips.
Ä May participate in class activity at the end of the month.
Ä Student is escorted to lunch and throughout the building.
General Items
Ä Cell phone use and other privileges are based on your behavior level.
Ä Everyone starts on Level II.
Ä All students, regardless of level, will be escorted throughout the building.
⊗ No picture drawings related to drugs, alcohol and tobacco products.
Ä Levels can change on a weekly basis.
Ä If you drop a level, you must attain points for one week to attain a higher level.
Ä Severe misconduct may result in an automatic drop in level(s).
⊗ No food or drinks in the room after 8 am. ⊗ No blankets or pillows are allowed in the room.
⊗ Computer use is restricted to online courses and research related to courses.
⊗ No youtube or social media sites are allowed.
⊗ Students transitioned back into regular education must remain on levels two or three.
⊗ If a transitioned student drops to level 1, they will return to alternative education.
⊗ Alternative Education students are to complete assignments in Alternative Education room only, unless for special permission by Administration.
Expectations For All Students
⊗ Report directly to the high school office in the morning for alternative education.
Ä Always have a personal reading book.
Ä Remain with the group while in the hallway.
Ä No calling out to other students in the hallway.
Ä Participate in group with a positive attitude.
⊗ Students must complete all block assignments.
⊗ Students must watch or read all daily lesson videos.
⊗ Students must take notes for each daily lesson with at least 5 facts.
⊗ Students must complete a 100% on all daily lessons, 80% not acceptable.
⊗ Students must have a reading book or magazine when assignments are done.
⊗ Students must take part in community service while in Alternative Education.
