About the Teacher

  • Hi, I'm Mr. Hatch, Chemistry and General Science teacher and Science Department Chairperson at NHS. I've been teaching here at NHS since the fall of 1989. I received my B.S. in Chemistry with education certification from Messiah College in May of 1989. Since then, I've earned a Master's Equivalency Certificate by completing a variety of courses through Penn State University, Shippensburg University, Mount Saint Mary's College, Wilkes University, and various other schools. My teaching experience has been enriched by involvement in a variety of programs such as Advancing Science - a mobile science education program based at Gettysburg College. I especially enjoy teaching Chemistry because it offers a great blend of theory with analytical problem solving and hands-on lab activities. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of helping students overcome the anxiety they may feel and guiding them to see that chemistry isn't so intimidating after all.

On a personal note, I reside within the school district with my talented wife and my two beloved daughters. We enjoy music, camping, and certain carefully selected reality TV series. We are actively involved in our church and community. We love to attend as many school concerts and athletic events at as we can, and we are definitely POLAR BEAR PROUD!
