Yesterday we took on two very fast co-op teams from the combined Trinity and Camp Hill High Schools. There were quite a few bright spots for us, including...
* 40 more Career Best times
* 4 Career First Legal Swims
* 7 In-Season Best Times (defined as in a regular suit, not shaved and not rested/tapered)
* 3 Season Fastest Relays (Girls 200 Free, Boys 200 Free and Boys 400 Free)
* A number of Season Best times (defined as the fastest time this season in a specific event)
Despite our Girls Team's best efforts, Trinity&CampHill won all but two events (Abigail won the 200 Free and our 200 Free Relay team of Jackie, Evangeline, Audrey and Abigail also won), and they prevailed by a score of 88-82. It was a tough loss for us to a very good team. Our Girls Team's overall record is now 1-3 and our Colonial Division record is 1-1.
In the boys meet, despite our only winning two events (Noah won the 100 Free and the 400 Free Relay team of Ben, Sondo, Gavin and Noah were also victorious), our depth really carried the day. Our 2nd through 5th place finishes won the meet for us! It was a tremendous team effort that allowed our momentum to continue into the Christmas Holiday Break, which starts on Friday.
While we had some outstanding performances yesterday, we also made some errors that must be corrected. We had seven disqualifications, two "no swims" and one "did not finish." I acknowledge the "visual" at the bulkhead for freestyle turns was very challenging. You can't change what happened in the past, however you must take personal responsibility now and in the future for doing what's necessary to step up on the block for your races and complete them legally. Your team and coaches are counting on you. We can do this!
