I know how difficult it is to get motivated every day, day after day, to jump in the water and practice...to work hard on improving your technique, strength and conditioning.
For the seven members of our Mid Penn Swimming Championships team, that hard work paid off this past weekend at Cumberland Valley. Without any significant rest and without shaving, here's what this group of committed athletes achieved:
* 14 times faster than their entry time over 16 events!
* 13 Career Best Times! (across 22 swims...or 59%)
* 5 Untapered/Unshaved Best Times!
* 1 School Record (Kate Luft's 2:10.83 in the 200 IM shattered the previous record which had been on the board for a very long time)!
We had four Mid Penn medal winning performances (keep in mind this was against AA and AAA teams):
* Kate Luft's 3rd Place 2:10.83 in the 200 IM!
* Kate Luft's 4th Place 50.05 in the 100 Fly!
* Nicole Andrews' 7th Place 1:10.66 in the 100 Breaststroke!
* The Girls 400 Free Relay Team of Rachel Eby, Alexa Byers, Katelyn Boyce and Kate Luft posted a time of 3:44.12 and came home with Sixth Place medals!
We should all be very proud of the performances Alexa, Kate Luft, Katelyn Boyce, Larissa, Nick, Nicole and Rachel delivered this past weekend. Congratulations!
