@Central York (Panther Classic) - Panther Classic

  • Panther Classic : January 3rd

First, thank you, very much, to the many fans that traveled to Central York earlier today to cheer us on as we competed in the 2015 Panther Classic.  Our performances in the pool yielded the following results:

    * A 5th Place Finish for the Girls Team
    * A 3rd Place Finish for the Boys Team
    * A Combined Team Finish of 6th Place
    * 15 Career Best Times (Fastest EVER in your life)
    * 6 In-Season Best Times (Fastest during the regular season....as opposed to when rested for Mid Penns, The Plunge, Districts or States)
    * 6 Season Best Times (Fastest yet this season)

As we discussed yesterday after practice, it's important to recognize that "victory is not final and failure is not fatal."  While we had some very good swims today, our work resumes on Monday.  While we had some performances with which we were disappointed, we live to fight another day....to create in those small, seemingly unimportant moments the excellence that is revealed in the big ones.

You put in some very hard work over the holiday break.  We know that.  I'm confident it will yield outstanding results beyond those we've already seen!  As I said after the meet today, we are not defined by one swim or one meet.  I ask you to wait until the season is complete before you determine whether it's been a success.

    << 2nd Recap Email >>

I apologize, but I forgot to mention in my original meet recap from yesterday that we had three event winners, established two new Meet Records and had two heat winners of "Heat 1":

    * Senior Josh Clarke won the 200 IM and established a new Meet Record of 2:00.49, breaking the previous record from 2011 held by Northern Alum Jared Haley, who is now an NCAA All-American competing for West Chester University.

    * Josh was also the champion in the 500 Free, with a time of 4:51.91.  Josh's time was also a new Meet Record.  He broke a record that also stood since 2011 and belonged to another Northern graduate, Sam Linder, who now competes in middle distance freestyle events for Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

    * In the Girls 100 Breaststroke, Senior Jenn Strine defended her Panther Classic title by winning with a time of 1:12.96.

In addition to Josh and Jenn, we also had two swimmers who were heat winners of the first heat in their event, garnering important team points - Larissa MacDougall in the 200 IM and Libby Gingrich in the 100 Back.

Finally, I think it's important to note that of the girls teams competing yesterday, all four that finished above our Girls Team in the standings are AAA when it comes to post season competition - Cocalico, Reading, Palmyra and Central York.  Our girls will not see them at Districts or States.  We were the highest scoring AA Girls team yesterday....I'm just saying.

And for our Boys Team, despite losing three boys to graduation and a transfer, we were able to finish in 3rd Place again this year!

I continue to be very proud of every one of you.

    Our journey continues tomorrow.

    See you at the pool,

    Coach Resser
P.S.  Look for a separate email from me with a season to date summary, Team Goal update and outlook for January.
